Happy New Year! With the hussle and bussle of my life, it’s hard to keep up with everything. I’m not one to write in stone a resolution at the beginning of the year, but this year is different. Last year was year of ups and downs. More so the ups than the downs! I met an amazing man that pushes me to be better at life and has a family that’s welcomed me with open arms! They truly have been a blessing in my life! I’ve learned to push myself in the physical aspect this past year, I completed my first half-marathon and took up white water kayaking! One of the most difficult things I’ve had to learn this year was how to deal with my family being a million states away, well not exactly a million, rather 946 miles away. Sometimes you just need your mom’s hug! Anyways, THIS IS THE YEAR! The year of achieving the next 7 resolutions:
Resolution #1 No Sweets for 3 Months
I have the biggest sweet tooth ever! That’s why I never have any at my house! I could only imagine how large I would be if I kept them in the house! So since I’m training for some triathlons, I’m hoping that if I eliminate them for 3 months I might get some chiseled abs with all the workouts I’m doing! Or at least gain a smaller sweet tooth at the end of it.
Resolution #2 One Sprint Triathlon
To prepare myself for the Half-Ironman, I’ll be competing in, in the Fall, I thought I should first try a simple triathlon out! It’s .5 mile swim, 12.4 mile bike and a 3.1 mile run. Piece of cake!
Resolution #3 2 Olympic Triathlons
As you now know, I’m trying to compete in a Half-Ironman, but in order to do that a sprint triathlon isn’t going to cut it. It won’t even get me close to what I need to accomplish a Half-Ironman. So to push myself, I’m competing in not only 1 but 2 olympic triathlons. That’s .93 mile swim, 24.8 mile bike and a 6.2 mile run. Times 2! We will see how I feel after these, I doubt this will be enough, but it’s a start!
Resolution #4 Run the Philly Marathon!
As if all of these athletic events aren’t enough, I thought I’d throw in the Philly Marathon! I was able to train for my first half-marathon this past year, so why wouldn’t I be able to apply the same training techniques for the Philly Marathon! I can’t wait to put the 26.2 sticker on the back of my car!
Resolution #5 Giggle More!
Laughter is the best medicine! This past year was so amazing, I want to keep laughing! I’ve met so many wonderful people this year that have made my life so enjoyable! I want to keep the excitement and laughter alive again this year! Let the laughs begin!
Resolution #6 Get published on Oh So Beautiful Paper
I have this obsession with letters in all shapes and sizes! The obsession is put to use when I design couple’s custom wedding invitations! Oh and did I mention, I like to letterpress them! That tends to make them extra fancy! So hopefully my love of letters combined with the extra fancy will land me a spot on Oh So Beautiful Paper!
And last but certainly not least: Resolution #7 Start a Blog
Would you look at that we aren’t even 2 weeks into the new year and I can say I’ve accomplished one of my resolutions! Start a blog that is! I’m looking forward to writing about my training for all the events above, the experiences I get to have this year and share my love of letters with the world!
Wishing you a fun filled New Year!
